New equipment for LOROS

Aug 11, 2017 | News, What we fund

Supporters of  Birstall BAGS, have helped to raise enough funds to purchase two new syringe pumps for local hospice, LOROS.

The £2,600 donation from Birstall BAGS paid for the much-needed syringe drivers which are small pumps that enable the safe administration of medication to patients who may find it difficult to swallow tablets.

Jo Hyde, Head of Inpatient Services at LOROS, said: “We’re very grateful to Birstall BAGS for their kind donation. These syringes make it much easier for us to help patients to take their medication. The drugs that are administered with the pump are to control symptoms such as pain, nausea and vomiting, and so it’s really important that we can help patients with this medication.”

Emma Shaw from Birstall BAGS commented: “We were delighted to be able to provide the funding for the syringes. They will hopefully make a big difference to patients, making them comfortable and reducing their pain or discomfort when taking medication. We’d like to thank our supporters for their efforts in fundraising and attending our events – they have made this donation possible.”
