It was a pleasure to be able to hold out charity golf day again this year. As ever, we were grateful to Birstall Golf Club for hosting and to John and Jo Clayton for organising it.
20 teams came together on Saturday 19 September to raise money and compete for some fantastic prizes. The day started a little wet but our teams didn’t let this put them off and it soon stopped to make way for plenty of sunshine.
Our golfers were treated to coffee, cakes, and samosas at the halfway house – thanks to the ladies who made and served the refreshments; the samosas in particular went down a treat!
Prizes were awarded to the top six teams, longest drive and nearest the line. The first prize of a four ball vouchers at Forest of Arden Golf Club went to Elliott North’s team from Kirby Muxloe.
After the golf, we held an auction of four ball vouchers and raised over £500. Huge thanks to the various clubs around the country that donated the vouchers, and to the local businesses that also donated prizes.
Thanks to our wonderful supporters, the day raised a brilliant £3,100 which exceeded our expectations. Next year’s golf day is booked for June – keep an eye out for details.
